Copyright & Takedown

Screenshots show other people's pages. Here is how we treat them, in the captures we make for customers and in the examples on this site, and how rights holders can reach us.

Operated by HYDRANODE LTD · Last updated 16 October 2026

01Two kinds of content

  • Ours: this website, the documentation and its code samples, our articles, our illustrations, and the Screenshot for Web name and logo belong to HYDRANODE LTD.
  • Other people’s pages: a screenshot shows a page that belongs to someone else, and its owner keeps every right in it. We claim no ownership of the pages we capture.

02Captures made for our customers

Our customers choose the pages they capture, through the API, the dashboard and the free tools, and they’re responsible for having the right to capture and use them (see the Terms of Use). We make each capture on their instructions and deliver it to them.

Captures are kept privately, behind links that expire, and we don’t publish them. Screenshots and batch files made through the API are deleted after 30 days. If a capture we hold infringes your rights, tell us and we’ll remove it.

03Other people’s pages on this site

Some of our pages show screenshots of other websites: examples of what the service produces, the timelines on our home page and website history tool, and illustrations in our articles. They’re there to show and discuss how those sites look and change, for illustration, criticism, review and reporting. We consider this fair dealing under the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and fair use where that applies. Showing a site doesn’t mean its owner is connected with us or endorses us. If you’d rather we didn’t show yours, tell us.

04Archived copies

Captures of a page’s past are made from copies kept by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. We can stop capturing your site’s archived pages and remove the captures we hold. To have pages removed from the archive itself, use the Internet Archive’s own removal process, described at help.archive.org.

05Trade marks

Names and logos that appear in captures and examples belong to their owners and are shown only to identify the site in question. “Screenshot for Web” and its logo are HYDRANODE LTD’s.

06Asking for removal

Most requests are simple, and we’d rather help than argue. Write to contact@screenshotforweb.com with:

  1. the address of the page on our site, or the link to the capture, or enough detail for us to find it;
  2. who you are, and whose rights you’re acting for;
  3. what you’d like: removal, a correction, or credit;
  4. something that shows you’re entitled to ask; an email from the site’s domain usually does.

We aim to act within 7 working days, and usually sooner.

07Formal notices

If you prefer to send a formal notice of infringement, such as one under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, include: the work you say is infringed; the material on our service and where it is; your name, address, phone number and email; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised by the owner, its agent or the law; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you’re the owner or authorised to act for them, with your signature.

Knowingly misrepresenting that material infringes can make you liable. We may share a notice with the customer who made the capture, so they can respond.

08Repeat infringement

We close the accounts of customers who use the service to infringe other people’s rights again and again. If you ask us to stop showing your site on our pages, we remember that and apply it to anything we add later.
